Here’s why we can’t stop staring at the royal portrait!
1)) Those gorgeous people and their even more gorgeous festive finery! Kareena Kapoor Khan, the quintessential begum in a golden Tarun Tahiliani creation, matched with traditional jewellery. Saif Ali Khan, ever the Raghavendra Rathore loyalist when it comes to Indian wear, in an oxblood kurta by the Jodhpur designer. Soha Ali Khan looks equally stunning in her beautiful lehenga, while husband Kunal Kemmu appears more dashing than any blueblood!
2) That pose! Trust the Pataudis, for whom posing for royal photographs is ingrained at birth, to know exactly how to strike a pose that’s a blend of casual elegance and easy dignity. The slightly cocky stance that Saif strikes, Soha’s coy princess glance, the stately mien of these siblings’ spouses, Kareena and Kunal, and the fact that the men stand gallantly and protectively besides the women, is a lesson in the art of sitting for a royal photograph.
3) That lovely setting! Who can miss all the casual touches of royalty that the Pataudis have been born to? The backdrop is a story in itself with its miles of well-thumbed books, the antique shield and daggers telling their own story, alongside framed paintings lying casually against the walls. The glint of dark polished furniture, coexisting with the informal touch of cane modas, a must-see at most residences in North India… do you blame us for ogling?!
4) The new age mommies! We love that while Kareena is dotty about her li’l son Taimur, and new mommy Soha cannot bear to be parted from her infant, Inaaya Naumi, who was born on September 29, these ladies have the energy and the mojo to get dolled up and look divine!
5) And best of all, do not miss that goblet of wine (champagne??) in the foreground! Occasions like the Festival of Lights deserve that special pop and the Pataudis would make sure they celebrated it with the right spirit… and in high spirits! Nothing like a splash of bubbly to hit the sweet spot!
