Every ichchadari naagin may or may not have her day, but this one sure is! News comes in that TV actress Mouni Roy, who has already been signed on to make her Bollywood debut with Reema Kagti’s Gold, opposite Akshay Kumar no less, has struck ‘gold’ again…
Apparently, the 32-year-old actress has bagged her second film, and it’s no less than Ayan Mukerji’s fantasy adventure Brahmastra, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan in the lead roles!
A Karan Johar production is a big deal, and the industry is eager to know how she broke out of her small screen background and landed herself this plum deal. More importantly, just what character will she be essaying? The details are still not forthcoming at this point, as director Ayan is being extremely closed-mouthed about any details regarding her role. All we do know is that it was only recently that Mouni came on board and she will start shooting early next year, when the film rolls.
The beautiful Mouni has long since been making her mark on the Indian television screen, with her roles as Krishnatulsi in ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’, Sati in ‘Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev’ and for playing Shivanya Ritik Singh and Shivangi Rocky Pratap Singh in ‘Naagin’. She also caught attention playing Meera in ‘Junoon – Aisi Nafrat Toh Kaisa Ishq’, besides being a contestant and finalist on ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ in 2014.
In an interview just last year, Mouni had stated that while she was not a very ambitious person, she did want to do better work. However, I just don’t want to do a film for the sake of it, she said, declaring that the aim was not to just do a film with a huge production house or a big director. “It has to be substantial, otherwise there’s no point, she had said,” adding, “I would rather be an A-lister on TV than do one film and come back. I am very happy in the space I am now. I know times are going to change and I won’t get the kind of roles I am doing now. But then I want to do other stuff too. Eventually, I want to write a book.”
That book would take a long time coming, we predict!
