What is it with trouble and Sanjay Dutt? Just as you think that the dust has finally settled and the man can start to breathe in peace, another old ‘sin’ rears its ugly head! Now the actor has received a court notice from Uttar Pradesh for a misdemeanour committed in 2009. You might recall the swipe Dutt had allegedly taken at politician Mayawati, who was the BSP chief at that time. It was while campaigning for a candidate of the Samajwadi Party in the Tikaitnagar area during the 2009 Lok Sabha elections that the incident had occurred. Dutt had reportedly remarked that he would like to give Mayawati a 'jaadu ki jhappi' , a magic hug, so to speak, that makes all things right.
Every film fan will be familiar with the term, which is a popular dialogue from the Raju Hirani film, Munna Bhai MBBS, which starred the Dutt as the adorable gangster. He had made the remark at a huge public gathering and the same had also been videographed. A complaint had thereafter been filed against the actor by the Masauli police station in charge, Vinay Misra. Now the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Sanjay Yadav has sent Dutt a notice and the actor has been asked to appear before the court before November 16.
Phew! It’s not an easy life at all, the life of Mr Sanjay Dutt! And apparently we will get to see plenty of those scrapes and shenanigans in Raju Hirani’s biopic on the actor, starring Ranbir Kapoor.
Ironically, the Dutt has been trying to keep his nose clean since his release from prison, and is actually working with a savvy marketing team to help polish his rather tainted image. From being in the news for vacations with his wife and twins, to no late-night parties and a preference for dinner and drinks at home rather than living it up the city’s nightclubs, Baba – as he is still fondly called – has been doing what it takes to make the right impression.
…And then another old controversy reappears to ruin all that effort!
