Saif is dotty about his youngest child and loves spending time with him, but he is balanced enough to appreciate the benefits of having help to care for the tot as well! He candidly reveals that having a child can feel a little overwhelming, which is why breathing space is essential. Some people have a lower tolerance for claustrophobia, is how he puts it, and he is one of them. Admitting that he would not be happy if he had to be around them all the time, he reveals that during the first schedule of Veere Di Wedding, Kareena and Taimur were in Delhi, and he was very happy to be on his own at home. “I love being by myself but after a couple of days, I missed having them around,” he confesses. Not overly obsessed with his tot, he declares that Taimur is a part of his life, which is why he loves having them around and likes having his own space too.
During the second schedule of the film, it was him and Taimur on their own at home and Saif admits that the little kiddo did look a tad sad minus his mommy. Happy to have Kareena back when she returned, the house also felt right as they had missed her energy.
Saif is all for the middle path and he takes this approach when it comes to dealing with Taimur too. Not for them the desperate attempts to shield their li’l one from the paparazzi.
In fact, Saif laughs over how the moment someone points their phone at Taimur, he stares directly at them. He believes that trying to shield your child from the paps wouldn’t help in the least. As he sees it, the Indian paparazzi are largely harmless anyway – their job demands that they take pictures, and the stars are generally happy to pose for them. It’s a win-win for all.
In fact, Saif had even explained to Kareena that they shouldn’t try to hide Taimur from the photographers; far better to allow a few pics without risking any stamping and pushing which could actually pose a hazard to the child’s safety!
