Dharma Productions’ Brahmastra is a long, long way from hitting the screens - it will release on August 15, 2019 - but we have to admit we’re feeling the tingles already!
Here’s why…
- The film will be shot the regular way but will then undergo a cutting-edge conversion process to be converted into 3D. So, we are preparing for visual effects that should be nothing short of spectacular!
- Co-produced by Fox Star Studios and Namit Malhotra, Malhotra reveals that the aspiration is to create something home-grown that can match Hollywood standards. “We can't be penny-pinching with the scale. Hollywood has moved from dramas and rom-coms to big scale films, which makes more money eventually. India too is getting there.”
- Dharma Productions has announced the film as one of its “most ambitious films”. No expense is being spared and the results are expected to be worth every penny of that Rs.150+ crore budget. Karan had apparently asked the team not to worry about the budget, as a superhero film needs a mounting of a certain stature.
- The film will mark a journey into ‘the realm of fantasy adventure’ and yet stay rooted within the Indian cultural heritage. Given that the title Brahmastra itself signifies the powerful weapon created by Brahma in mythology, we are thinking on the lines of Lord of the Rings meets Baahubali, at the very least!
- It has the makings of an epic already, with the film being planned as a trilogy. The series will progress from establishing the characters to the protagonist achieving his goal.
- Director Ayan Mukherji has been completely involved with the film for years now, to the extent of refusing all other directorial offers. His vision is expected to strike a chord with everyone, from the ages of six to 60.
- A star cast helmed by the irresistible Ranbir Kapoor, the utterly natural Alia Bhatt and the towering Amitabh Bachchan can’t not grab eyeballs and the imagination!
