The filming of Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas has been something of a rollercoaster experience. The film, directed by dad Sunny Deol, will launch his son, Karan, who will be the third generation actor in Hindi films. Sunny has been sounding all too aware of the responsibility of giving his son the right launch. “It is a huge task since it is Karan's first film. I want to give my best to it. I am a bit conscious as I am launching him,” he had admitted.
When the proud dad had shared a picture of Karan from the first day of the shoot, the wishes had come pouring in, as celebrities like Rishi Kapoor, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan welcomed the young lad to the industry, and wished the Deols good luck for their upcoming film. Grandpa Dharmendra had also got a tad emotional, as he said about Karan, “He has confidence and I want him to fly with his confidence.”
Shooting of the film had begun in earnest this February but had come to an abrupt halt when the 22-year-old Karan suffered an injury while shooting for a song in Manali. Karan had to be rushed for treatment to Mumbai, and filming had come to a screeching halt.
All through, the emotional yet not too expressive dad was extremely worried about his son’s setback. The good news is that after a period of healing, a fit and fine Karan returned to Manali to resume shooting. However, it hasn’t been a walk in the park. Apparently the team was shooting an action sequence in Manali on Saturday last week, which reduced both father and son to tears…

It was an extremely challenging scene, to start out with. Sunny had apparently chosen a location at an altitude of over 15,000 feet. The temperature was at a numbing -4 degree C. Under such severe weather conditions, only one shot could be completed in a day. This was a hard-core action shot in which Karan and Saher were to be shown escaping from the villains and had to hang off a cliff. Shooting this challenging sequence, compounded by the need for retakes, eventually took its toll on Karan. Apparently the boy broke down and rushed towards his father, who dissolved into tears as well. The two shared an emotional moment even as Sunny explained to his son that he was only doing it for his career. Soon the lad calmed down enough and went on to complete the shot with added verve. The tears that then welled up in papa’s eyes would have been tears of pride and joy!
