Jab We Met completed 10 years on October 26, and amidst the flood of memories and yearning for the team to come together again, no one suspected that the ball had already been put in motion! Yes, it is finally revealed that Imtiaz Ali and Shahid Kapoor will reunite for a rom-com – with a fresh actress, of course; even we hopeless romantics understand that not all our wishes can come true (sigh…Geet, we miss you)

The director-actor duo are keeping their cards very close to their chest at this point. All that has been revealed is that the film will apparently tee off in Mumbai in April, to be followed by an extensive shoot in India and abroad. Imtiaz is currently thick in the middle of finding his leading lady. After Kareena as the iconic Geet, he sure has his work cut out for him!

It is a fact that Jab We Met had given a fresh lease of life to the careers of Imtiaz, Shahid and Kareena a full decade back. Imtiaz revealed on the occasion of the film’s 10th anniversary that he wasn’t at all confident of the film when he was writing or narrating it. He thought the film had a thin storyline, and certain stars had already refused to be a part of it. “The only person who felt confident about the film was Shahid,” Ali declared. That does say a lot about the actor’s positivity, we guess!

In fact, Imtiaz had originally been planning the film with Bobby Deol in the lead. However, there were bigger directors approaching him at that time, and he told Imtiaz to push Jab We Met to later. It was while he was trying to make Rockstar, Highway and other stories that he met Shahid, and Jab We Met was brought to the front-burner again.

Battling a rough patch after films that have not exactly hit bullseye, it might well be Imtiaz’s reuniting with Shahid that will spark off the magic all over again. We have our fingers crossed!
