"I actually heard 'Ittefaq' for myself" - Shah Rukh Khan

Donning producer's hat once again is Shah Rukh Khan with the release of Ittefaq on November 3. He is joining hands with his BFF Karan Johar and co-producing the film. The film is a remake of late director Yash Chopra's 1969 movie. The remake is helmed by Abhay Chopra and stars Sonakshi Sinha, Sidharth Malhotra and Akshaye Khanna in the lead roles.

At SRK's birthday press con today, Khan was asked, if given a chance, whose role would he have preferred to play, Akshaye or Sidharth's? "I actually heard the film for me, but I was doing Raees and Fan and that was very hectic and difficult. So I told them (the makers) that we will shoot but then Fan got delayed by six months and Raees also got delayed as I injured myself. So I told them lets' make this film else they would have to wait for 1.5 years. They offered me Akshaye's role but I would have done either of the roles (Sid and Akshaye). They wanted me to play a cop. But, both the roles were very interesting and since I didn't have any time, I couldn't take up the project. Though, both Sid and Akshaye have done good work."

As Ittefaq is the remake of 1969 classic, Khan, in a previous interview said that one should not consider it as a remake,"What's wrongly essayed is that it's not a remake - the premise might be similar to the 1969 Ittefaq but the movie has taken a flight of its own."

Ittefaq will release tomorrow and is produced by Dhamra Productions, Red Chillies Entertainment and B.R. Studios.
