If Priyanka Chopra is nominated for President next, we will barely bat an eye – the rate at which our girl gone West is acquiring feathers in her cap, nothing will surprise us anymore! We are rather chuffed though to see her name feature in Forbes’ list of 100 Most Powerful Women across the world. She figures at 97th place on the list which places Taylor Swift at 64th position, Ivanka Trump at No. 19, ‘Harry Potter’ writer JK Rowling at 13th spot and Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, right at the top.
The accompanying article by Forbes calls Priyanka “arguably the most successful Bollywood actor to cross over to Hollywood”. It recounts how she began her acting career in 2003, and has since appeared in more than 40 Bollywood films, making her US big-screen debut in 2017’s Baywatch. It states that as the star of ABC’s ‘Quantico’, she is one of TV’s highest-earning actresses, and the fist Indian actor to lead a drama series on American television. “As a producer, Chopra founded Mumbai-based Purple Pebble Pictures, which strives to promote regional filmmakers and up-and-coming Indian talent,” the article points out. Hailing her for being passionate for promoting children’s rights, the article also stresses that she is a global UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and United Nations Foundation Girl Up Champion. Her non-profit, The Priyanka Chopra Foundation for Health and Education provides schooling and medical care, it adds.
Currently in New York shooting for Season 3 of ‘Quantico’, Priyanka also holds the 15th spot on the list of world's most powerful women in entertainment and media 2017. What’s more, she had made her debut on Forbes' list of Highest Paid TV actresses across the globe last year, coming in at the 8th spot.
Like we said, we ain’t gonna be batting our eyes anymore!
