Bad Blood or Bad Timing? Salman and Aishwarya Clash on the box-office

Come Eid, 2018, movie buffs are going to have an interesting choice to make. While Salman Khan has committed to making every Eid special for his fans, he’ll be going face-to-face with his ex, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, at the box office. While Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer, Race 3, has just gone on the floor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, and Rajkumar Rao starrer, Fanney Khan, is about to complete shooting. The makers of Fanney Khan have announced that June 15, 2018, will be the official release date of the film, which also happens to be the same weekend Salman Khan’s Race 3, hits the box office. While Race 3 is a suspense thriller, Fanney Khan is a remake of an Oscar-nominated Dutch film, Everybody’s Famous!

Another interesting part of this face-off is the fact that both of these movies have a common link. Anil Kapoor happens to be an integral part of both these films. We wonder if this puts him in an awkward position.

Salman and Aishwarya first met on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s cult film, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, and began dating soon after. The couple parted ways in 2002 and their infamous break up has been the talk of the town ever since. The two have avoided all forms of interaction with each other ever since.

A source explained to a leading tabloid, "It will be an exciting clash since Aishwarya and Salman's relationship continues to hold the audience's attention, even years after it went kaput. While Salman boasts of tremendous box-office pull, Ash and Anil too have a huge fan following and will draw the audience to the theatres."

The source added that producers of Fanney Khan consulted with Aishwarya and Anil Kapoor before zeroing in on the release date, and the two were on board with the idea of releasing the film on Eid. The team of Fanney Khan is aware of Race 3’s release date but they are confident about their film." Producers of the Fanney Khan released a joint statement explaining their decision, "We have locked the release date of for Eid 2018 (June 15). We decided on Eid because of the lead character Fanney Khan, played by Anil Kapoor, is a Muslim character and there's no better day than Eid for its release."
