Wedding Wows: Things we love about the Bachchans’ family wedding

The Bachchan family came together for a big celebration last weekend at Yuvraj Rajan and Rhea Gandhi’s wedding, from where their pics have gone viral on social media.

Getting Poetic!

We do love the way Amitabh Bachchan waxed lyrical about the magic of weddings… “Marriages are such a wonderful event in the family... the rituals the festive occasion the relatives not seen in ages the happiness and smiles of all the songs of old and of tradition the feats and laughter the teasings and game plays with the bride and the groom …endless…” he blogged, “And then suddenly it all comes to an end…”

“The festivities start days before and each moment is filled with the joys and laughter of all ...the welcome atmosphere …the music and the dance …the chatter and the fun, the special eats and the traditional rituals ...each member of the elders having their say in how the ceremony needs to be conducted

“...And the special clothes of tradition to be worn on each occasion …and at the end of it all …tired and sore throats and great togetherness ..The Father of the bride gives away his daughter to her new home ...the joy of giving …the blessing of those that receive her …and the additions to the family …welcomed with tradition folk songs and gaiety ..”

Emotions Unplugged

Bachchan slipped into Hindi as he shared, परिवार में शादी ,, और घर में एक और बेटी का स्वागत. The love flowed as he topped that up with a picture of his children, Shweta and Abhishek, which he captioned, मेरे सर्वप्रथम ! मेरे अनमोल ! मेरे सब कुछ !! He did post a pic of daughter-in-law Aishwarya, but the bulk of his attention went the way of his son and daughter. Weddings do make a man sentimental!

Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla were the chosen designers for all the members of the Bachchan family, as they invariably are for all their formal occasion dressing. Aishwarya, however, stuck to her fave, Manish Malhotra, opting for a less ostentatious magenta-hued ensemble, also choosing a similar colour for little Aaradhya.

Celebration Mode

With the Bachchans appeared en famille at a big family celebration, it appears that the family is out of mourning, post the demise of Aishwarya’s father. The Bachchans had skipped a big blowout for Amitabh’s birthday, as well as their customary Diwali bash, out of deference for the late Mr. Rai. That phase is apparently over, as news also comes in for a big party to be held for Aaradhya’s 6^th birthday on November 16.
