It is rare to see the generally unflappable Aishwarya Rai Bachchan get upset and shaken in public. However, apparently when it comes to children and their well-being, she is extremely sensitive. Yesterday, she, accompanied by daughter Aaradhya and mother Vrinda Rai had visited a hospital for a charity event.
It was her late father’s birth anniversary and to honour his love for children, she had decided to sponsor surgeries for 100 children born with a cleft lip and palate condition. Aishwarya’s father Krishnaraj Rai had succumbed to an illness and had passed away in March 2017.
Announced as a Day of Smiles by the NGO Smile Train India which had organised the event, Ash not only visited the children but also cut a cake with them, in a suburban hospital. Spreading cheer and hope, she encouraged the children to chase their dreams. However, things went out of control as the media covering the event became too loud and noisy as they covered the event and shot images of Ash and Aaradhya.
Generally, there is a certain amount of commotion at every star event, as photographers and videographers jostle to capture the proceedings. However, in this case, given the sensitivity of the occasion, the ruckus created by the assembled media-persons stood out starkly. Aishwarya tried to regain control of the situation by requesting the photographers to maintain their calm. However, the decibels remained high and the jostling continued.

The chaos was having a visible effect on the children gathered there, who looked disturbed and alarmed by the commotion. This, in turn, left Ash even more upset, as she repeatedly requested for silence. Watching her mother disturbed, Aaradhya too looked solemn and troubled, more so as tears welled up in Ash’s eyes at the ensuing chaos…
The last time we remember Ash losing her cool with photographers was last year, when she was leaving Mehboob Studios after a long day of shooting the promo of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. While carrying Aaradhya in her arms, she was rushing back to her car, when the photogs went a tad berserk trying to shoot pics of the mother-daughter duo. In the ensuing commotion, a lensman came very close to her and Aaradhya's head got hurt while she was sitting in the car. The little one started crying…and Ash was extremely upset by the whole situation.
Being a star is tough, some days.
