Nothing iffy about it: Sid-Alia kept their distance at IFFI, Goa

Sure, they might still care for each other, as well-wishers proclaim. They will never make their problems evident, and they will even hush up the issue and train their eyes on their respective futures – something we have also heard before. There is simply no masking the fact though that these ex-lovers are done and dusted.

The effects of their reported break-up in November are definitely there to see. At the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Alia was spotted with mentor Karan Johar. The event also saw Shekhar Kapur and Sushant Singh Rajput participating. She finished her commitments and left the city at 10 pm. Ironically, that very evening at around 7.45 pm, her once-lover Sidharth Malhotra landed in Goa, to participate in the IFFI closing ceremony tomorrow, along with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. And neither did Alia nor Sid make even a feeble attempt to meet or connect during the period they were both in Goa together.

This is in stark contrast to all the zillion times in the past, when they often matched personal and professional commitments. This time, despite being part of the same event, they steered clear of each other…A sad comment on the fact that this cutesy couple is completely history.

Reasons had flown left, right and centre over their split. While some claimed it was Sidharth’s alleged affair with Jacqueline that had broken Alia’s trust, others insisted it was Alia’s fondness for Varun that was a sore point. Eventually, the message went out that they were simply incompatible and even mentor Karan Johar had to accept the reality that they wanted no future together.

Recently, Sid had opened up, rather unwillingly about his equation with Alia. “Yes, everything is fine,” he had practically snapped, adding, “and there is nothing to be not okay or read too much into it. I think it’s a phase where we really need to concentrate on our work. I hope people talk about Ittefaq more than I being clicked with Alia.”

At IFFI, Goa, they made sure that the possibility did not even arise!
