No one could accuse Saif Ali Khan of living in any sort of fool’s paradise – the actor is absolutely realistic about himself, shortcomings et al. We can’t help but gasp at his honest admission of failure at the box-office. “It’s easy to think that people no longer want to see me in a film. But I don’t do that; I get my confidence back every time, irrespective of whether my film works or not. I’ll keep working and hopefully, things will fall into place.” It must also help to have his biggest fan in his wife, by his side. As the ever-encouraging Kareena Kapoor Khan is fond of saying, “Saif has been in the industry for 25 long years. He is beyond success or failure of his movies!”
By the looks of it, the actor appears to have a winner on hand this time. The trailer of his upcoming Kaalakaandi shows the actor in his element, acing the comic scenes with his superb timing and acting. And to top it, those super cool looks!

The film, as he had earlier revealed, is a cross-section of Mumbai with underworld goons, doomed bankers and idealistic lovers all mixed together in a karmic tale about love, crime and living a lifetime in one night! “I truly consider it to be one of my best films and am really looking forward to the release,” he states.
While the film is scheduled to release on January 12 next year, there could be a change of plan if the much-delayed Padmavati also chooses the same release date. “If Padmavati comes in (on that day), we will think of shifting our release date. I hope we don’t have to do that. Kaalakaandi is a film I am proud of,’’ he repeats.
If it were up to him, he would actually welcome both films releasing on the same date. “It would have been nice to see Kaalakaandi releasing with Padmavati, as it shows that we have a film industry which makes different kind of movies. Recently, we saw Secret Superstar and Golmaal Again releasing on the same day and both films did well. Personally, I feel it is a good time to have films releasing alongside one another. But filmmakers are wary about it, and you need to take that into consideration.’’
Just for the record, we, for one, would be reserving our seats for both films!
