Kangana Ranaut is not the kind to forget a past slight. Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar are getting a personal taste of this trait of Ms. Ranaut’s. First of all, she mysteriously refused to sign a Deepika Bachao petition, after serious threats faced by the Padmavati actress over her portrayal of Rani Padmini in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period film. The straight-talking Kangana came out to clear her stand on the matter, declaring that while she had zero issues with Deepika, the same could not be said of Shabana Azmi, who was spear-heading the petition.

“I was filming Manikarnika in Jodhpur when I got a call from dear friend Anushka Sharma to sign the petition written by Ms. Shabana Azmi,” Kangana clarified. “I explained to her that Deepika Padukone has all my support but I am a bit wary of Shabana Azmi's investment in left-wing vs right-wing politics. I have my own set of ideas and opinions about the current situation in our country. I am on the fence about many things, and being a part of a feminist movement called Deepika Bachao led by someone who character assassinated me when I was bullied by influential men, seems to be one of them. Anushka understood but I am glad they reached out to me. Like I said, Deepika has all my support. I am an individual perfectly capable of supporting who I like without anyone's support.”

Bet that didn’t go down well with the veteran actress and activist at all. And now it emerges that Kangana also has an axe to grind with Azmi’s husband, writer, and lyricist Javed Akhtar. Apparently, she is still livid about a certain phone call she had received from Akhtar, while she was engaged in a fierce war of allegations with the Roshans, during the promotions of her film Simran. Evidently, Javed had taken it upon himself to call up Kangana and advise her to stop taking pot-shots in public at Hrithik and his family. His suggestion that she should refrain from further angering influential people, as it could negatively impact her career, naturally did not go down well with Ranaut at all! While we don’t know the exact words with which she probably cut off Akhtar mid-speech, suffice it to say that she will not be part of any of their schemes, however well-meaning and noble!
