Veteran actress Saira Banu, Dilip Kumar's wife wrote a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis accusing a Mumbai-based builder of threatening to take over her family's house in Bandra's Pali Hill. In the letter, Saira mentioned that the builder has been putting pressure on her and has repeatedly threatened to 'illegally' take over the property. She alleged that the builder has also created fake documents of the property and is also using his influence to grab the house.

The property was bought in 1953 by Saira ji's husband, Dilip saab a.k.a Yusuf Khan. In the year 2008, a contract was signed with Prajita Developers to redevelop this property. Back then, due to a few complications, the matter was taken to the Supreme Court and on September 30, 2017, the apex court ruled that the property should be handed back to Dilip Kumar by rejecting a plea to restrain him from creating third party rights over the Pali hill property till the arbitration of the dispute with a private developer.
But in a new turn of events today Saira ji has accused the builder of trying to seize ownership and has requested CM Fadnavis to interfere in the matter, seeking out aid from the state government. "I say I am a senior citizen and to harass me and my family, the accused has come up with this conspiracy to usurp the property belonging to me. The accused is very well aware that my husband is 94-year-old and due to such pressure his health and my health is further deteriorating. The accused may use government machinery against me and my husband, I therefore request you to kindly order inquiry at the highest level anbd take immediate action,” Saira Banu wrote.
For the uninitiated, in August this year, SC had asked Dilip Kumar to deposit a registration amount of Rs 20 crore with the real estate firm, which was appointed to develop the property.
