Remember that late night visit Ranveer Singh made in May to Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s residence? It raised much speculation in Bollywood about a film possibly being made by the Munna Bhai MBBS producer and the mercurial actor. While Ranveer’s spokesperson immediately denied any such development, sources close to Chopra revealed that the producer and actor did meet over a film, and what’s more, Ranveer is believed to have agreed to do the film after Padmavati.
The rumour reached fever pitch when it was also learned that Deepika Padukone had visited Vidhu late in the night a couple of days before Ranveer. Speculation was rife, then, that Chopra was making a film with both the actors. However, according to PeepingMoon.com sources, although Ranveer reportedly agreed to do Vidhu’s film, he never gave the filmmaker any commitment. And while Vidhu waited in vain, Ranveer went ahead planning other films after Padmavati.

Vidhu is believed to be upset that Ranveer has gone ahead and signed Kabir Khan’s cricket film 1983 on India’s first World Cup victory in which he plays captain Kapil Dev. And simultaneously, he also announced the Karan Johar-Rohit Shetty collaboration Simmba in which he plays a cop. This means that Ranveer has no dates in 2018 for Vidhu.
Sources say while most actors would jump at Chopra’s offer, Ranveer has taken it lightly and left the celebrated producer hanging for his dates. In the past few years, Chopra has given back to back hits like Lage Raho Munna Bhai, 3 Idiots and PK. His offer would have been a big one for Ranveer. But Ranveer is already riding high on success. Nevertheless, his actions are most likely going to cost Ranveer the film and Vidhu is now thinking of approaching another actor for the role.
