Priyanka Chopra who was expected to receive a doctorate degree from the Bareilly International University missed her felicitation ceremony. The Quantico actress, currently in Delhi, was supposed to fly down to Bareilly on Sunday to attend the ceremony but could not make it due to “fog lockdown”.
She expressed her grief on Twitter saying, "I was really looking forward to going back to Bareilly... not just to receive the honorary doctorate but also to see old friends and family and just reconnect with the city that has been such an important part of my life."
Priyanka tweeted, “Weather Gods and Goddesses, please do your thing and clear the skies. I really need to get to Bareilly! Fog lockdown. This can't be happening”

"I can't believe the ATC (air traffic controller) won't let me take off, saying it's not safe. My heart is breaking. This was supposed to be such a special moment. I actually may miss it. Bareilly calling," she added.”

In an Instagram story, she shared how she and her parents and her team have been waiting at the airport for 3 hours to get a clearance for their take off.

The university chancellor Keshav Kumar Agrawal was supposed to honor the international star for her work for various social causes with the degree in the presence of Union Environment Minister Harsh Vardhan and Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Rajesh Agarwal.
