Wanted
Salman had delivered four consecutive flops - Yuvraaj, God Tussi Great Ho, Hello and Heroes. It was 2009 when this Pradhu Deva directorial came along and saw Salman setting new benchmarks with his inimitable style, persona and presentation. He not only broke into the Rs.100 crore club, but changed the numbers game as it had existed.


Dabangg

A mammoth blockbuster, it had broken all the then-existing box office records set by Salman’s previous films. Its total lifetime collection from India was Rs.215 crore. Combining entertainment with some power-packed punch, this Abhinav Kashyap film paved the way for greater glories for its leading man.

Ready
This remake of the 2008 hit Telugu film of the same name, saw the audiences give the film a thumbs up, even as the critics berated it. Songs like ‘Character Dheela’ and ‘Dhinka chika’ saw this Anees Bazmee entertainer earn a resounding Rs.184 crore at the turnstiles.


Bodyguard

With this 2011 action comedy directed by Siddique, Salman broke several box office records despite mixed reviews from critics. Combined with the great chemistry between Salman and Kareena, and hit music, the film collected Rs.200 crore globally and became one of the highest grossing films of Salman Khan, smashing the record of Dabangg (2010).


Ek Tha Tiger

This 2012 film saw serpentine queues lining up for their tickets – and this Kabir Khan directorial did not disappoint. It created records for opening day collections, and sustained momentum to enter the Rs.100 crore club in just five days. Hard-core action, pumping music and great chemistry between Salman and Katrina saw this film rake in Rs.199 crores from the domestic market, taking its worldwide total to Rs.320 crore!


Dabangg 2

This 2012 release met with an unprecedented response at the ticket windows. With Salman reprising his role as Chulbul Pandey, the film saw soaring business. Entering the Rs.100 crore club in 6 days flat, it went on to collect Rs.158.50 crore in the domestic market, achieving a lifetime collection of a whopping Rs.249 crore.


Jai Ho

This Sohail Khan directorial did not quite hit bull’s eye. A remake of the Telugu film Stalin, Salman did however manage to power it into the Rs.100 crore club. The total worldwide collections touched Rs.183 crore – not small change, exactly!


Kick

The film saw Salman tasting Rs.200 crore triumph for the very first time in his career. Eliciting madness at the box office, it grossed Rs.233 crore at the domestic level. The directorial debut of producer Sajid Nadiadwala touched Rs.400 crore worldwide, delivering a resounding kick to any detractors.


Bajrangi Bhaijaan

This Kabir Khan directorial achieved mammoth collections of Rs.626 crore from the worldwide box office. More admirably, it touched an emotional chord with audiences everywhere, and was touted as one of the best films of the year. It also saw Salman Khan delivering his career best performance, while simultaneously also making it to the Rs.300 crore club.


Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

The audiences showed their love for Prem, the film’s hero, streaming in to catch this top-grossing film which saw Salman Khan and Sooraj Barjatya coming together after 17 years. The film did not achieve the heights of a Hum Aapke Hain Koun but it stood its ground and made an income of Rs.207.40 crore from the domestic market, adding approximately the same amount from the overseas, resulting in a Rs.400 crore worldwide collection.


Sultan

This Ali Abbas Zafar film enjoyed a historic run at the box office, while also garnering great reviews for its emotional and dramatic quotient. At the domestic box-office, it earned Rs.300.45 crore, and a further Rs.284 crore from the international market.


Tubelight

The Kabir Khan directed film released earlier this year elicited a lukewarm response at the box office and less than glowing reviews from critics. It nevertheless powered into the Rs.100 crore club. The film, a war drama, stands with a grand total of 102.36 crores at the box office.


Tiger Zinda Hai

The year ends with a huge bang for the swashbuckling Salman, as this sleek actioner is expected to cross the Rs.200 crore mark by the end of its first week itself! After an explosive opening with Rs.34.10 crore on Friday, the film is raking in the moolah and the ceetees in equal measure, as it races towards the Rs.200 crore mark. The film is pegged to be his third which will join the Rs.300 crore club, after Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan.

Midas still very much retains his golden touch!
