It’s good times for our small screen beauties. After Mouni Roy bagged Gold opposite Akshay Kumar, and the Ranbir-Alia starrer Brahmastra as well, another TV star has stuck lucky. Word comes in that the role of the female lead opposite Hrithik Roshan’s mathematician Anand Kumar in Super 30 will be none other than Mrunal Thakur.

Even as rumours circulated that it would be a newcomer who would be cast as Hrithik’s wife in this Vikas Bahl film, the makers have apparently plumped for Mrunal, who became a household name with her role as Bulbul in the television series ‘Kumkum Bhagya’.

Clearly, the alleged talks with Katrina Kaif have fallen through. Mathematician and IIT coach, Anand Kumar, on whose life the film is being made, had met with Kaif earlier this year. Other actresses too were supposedly approached but all had concerns about the length of the role – it is a brief yet important role.

Now Mrunal Thakur has evidently greenlighted the film although there is no official confirmation on the same yet. She had made news last year, when she was signed for the Indo-American film Love Sonia made by David Womark, producer of Life Of Pi. The actress went on to catch the eye of other production houses too, including Yash Raj Films, and was Aamir Khan’s reported first choice for Thugs of Hindostan. However, she had turned it down as she did not want to sign the three-film contract with the production house.

Mrunal had also auditioned and lost out on Sultan. She had revealed that she was chubby and out of shape at the time. However after losing more than 10 kilos in three months, she ended up losing too much weight and did not look like a wrestler, and hence reportedly lost out.

Now she is poised to land a debut opposite Hrithik Roshan. Not bad at all, we say. May we offer our congratulations already?
