The teaser release of Zero has sparked off immediate comparisons with Peter Dinklage’s Tyrion Lannister of popular fantasy series, ‘Game of Thrones’. The title and teaser of this Aanand L Rai were released yesterday and the twitterati are having a field day. One user poked fun at leading man Shah Rukh’s diminutive character, writing, “Kaise bure din aa gaye Shahrukh Sir ke Rajpal Yadav ki movie cheen ni pad rahi hai #Zero,” while another pointed out that by naming his next film Zero, SRK would free publicity throughout the year by petrol pump attendants who'll say ‘Sir zero dekhna'.

The actor sports a never-seen-before avatar in the film, and the teaser opens with numerous adjectives such as ‘paagal’ (mad), ‘aashiq’ (lover), ‘shaayar’ (poet), ‘makkar’ (trickster), ‘mental’, among many others, shedding light on the character Shah Rukh plays in the film. The vertically-challenged character he plays makes a rocking entry, singing the Mohammed Rafi classic track ‘Iss diwane dilne kya jadoo chalaya…’.

The teaser is entertaining to the core and has immediately sparked off comparisons between SRK and Lannister. For the non-GoT fans among us, Lannister has been dubbed an imp, a dwarf and even a monster. However, he always pays his debts. He is known to be equally in love with the bottle and women, and is a memorable character because of the wisdom he spouts in every episode.
News about SRK’s character’s connect with Tyrion had broken in September 2017, when a source had revealed that the source of Shah Rukh’s character was definitely on the lines of Tyrion Lannister, who is happy and always celebrating his life. “Shah Rukh will play a happy dwarf, who brings families together,” it had been suggested.

However, Tyrion has a good many grey shades as well. For one, his idea of celebrating life is more about hitting the bottle with a vengeance. As for bringing families together, he was the one who killed his father and then joined the forces of Daenerys Targaryen and Lord Varys after realising that his own kin would always be hostile towards him.
Will SRK also sport shades of grey in Zero? We confess, we would like nothing better!
