Deepika's birthday present from Ranveer’s family is special!

Cosy duo Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh returned from their New Year’s vacation in the Maldives post-Dippy’s birthday on January 5, looking great together. They were all smiles as they exited the airport. And buzz goes, the lady had a sweet surprise waiting for her… Apparently, beau Ranveer’s family gifted her a beautiful diamond necklace and a sari by Sabyasachi for her special day.

The gift has a deeper significance, as it indicates the Bhavnanis’ complete acceptance of her as their to-be-daughter-in-law. The family has clearly given their consent to the couple and can’t wait to bless them on their big day. The same goes for the Padukones, who are extremely fond of Ranveer and consider him their son.

After a rather trying year filled with controversy courtesy their yet to be released film, Padmavati, B-town’s fave couple had flown off for some rest and recreation together. Reports indicate that they were joined by their families for part of the vacay, which included loads of windsurfing and canoeing, along with sunbathing on the pristine beaches, and spending time at the lagoon-facing fitness and spa center.

The two have always been close to each other’s families. In December last year, when ace badminton player Prakash Padukone had launched the Padukone-Dravid center for Sports Excellence, both Deepika and Ranveer had flown down for the inauguration. Ranveer had clicked a warm selfie with Deepika’s father, sharing it on Instagram with the caption, “God of Badminton”.

At an awards function, Ranveer had respectfully touched the feet of Deepika’s parents before going on stage to collect his award. In return, Deepika has also maintained that she is very close to Ranveer’s family and that in Mumbai Ranveer’s family is her family. While she recently declared, “every relationship has its natural progression. I'm discovering that myself,” when asked about marriage, Ranveer has come out to quip that “Deepika is marriage material”. Deepika’s father Prakash has green-lighted their imminent union, saying, “They are adults and know what they are doing. As a father, I have given Deepika the freedom to take her own decisions. Even in this case, she is free to decide whatever she wants to do.” And with this meaningful birthday present from Ranveer’s parents to Deepika, things do look bright in the run-up to the wedding!
