Images of Kangana Ranaut’s cool new home in the hills are generating considerable heat: the house – mansion, actually – looks stunning! Buzz goes that the new property has become something of a landmark in Himachal and we can see why the locals have been bunching up taking selfies outsides the beautiful abode.
Situated in a secluded portion of Manali, the plush residence has elements of the traditional kath-khuni architecture of Himachal, built using local indigenous materials like wood, stone and bricks. It is built to last and, needless to add, that doesn’t come cheap. The sprawling new home apparently cost her a whopping Rs.20 crore!

Kangana had apparently bought the property for around Rs.10 crore post the success of Queen in the year 2014. It has taken close to four years for the house to be competed. It has been time well spent… The eight-bedroom house has windows facing the mountains, with each room also sporting its own step-out balcony. A rooftop glass conservatory allows in more than sufficient sunlight; an essential during the bitter winters in the hills. The large living room also boasts a fireplace to keep the chill at bay.
The house comes fully equipped with a gym and a yoga room, for the fitness-fixated Ranaut. Interestingly, the home, designed by Shabnam Gupta, has a European feel. The interiors have been further beautified with old handloom products and local handicrafts. No wonder really, that Kangana wants to spend every free minute she can, at her mountain-facing abode! In fact, the actress who was in Manali to check out the progress of her home, returned just a couple of days ago to shoot a reality show.
Building her own home in her hometown has been an immensely emotional experience for Kangana, who had left home as a teenager with nothing but her dreams and now returns to her roots, a star and a successful individual, to boot. She had revealed in an interview, “Laying the first brick of my house was an important decision. I have my own place in Mumbai, and I could have got a house anywhere in the world. But people back home call me Himachal ki beti. I am overwhelmed with the love I receive from my people.”
What else could one expect from a place called home?!
