“Akshay Tina se bohot darte hain (Akshay is scared of Tina)!” This revelation was made just the other day by Akshay’s PadMan heroine, Sonam Kapoor. Guess that is the secret behind their happy marriage!
Twinkle in three words – her husband thinks she is “the most wonderful, talented and headstrong woman’’!
One is chalk to the other’s cheese and that is perhaps the secret to their lively marriage. “We keep on discovering new things about each other because we are so different. We are poles apart,” Akshay had admitted.
Akki cannot stop praising his wife. “The one idea that changed my life was the day I decided to get married to my wife… Twinkle has not only added to my wardrobe but also to my bank balance. I was a scattered person; she is the one who has put me together. After marriage, she has kind of raised me (Laughs). On a serious note, whenever I’ve broken down she’s given me emotional support.”
Under that nonchalant cloak of wit, Twinkle is equally impressed by her husband. During the PadMan promotions, she said, “He has been making relevant choices. He has also been undergoing a personal evolution. What I find remarkable, as somebody who has been with him for almost 18 years now, is that he isn’t afraid to take leaps and change with times and grow. Even his thought process vis-à-vis what he would think 10 years ago and now, is evolving.”

Akshay, of course, is definitely the more gushy-mushy type, as he proclaims, “Tina (Twinkle) is my best friend. My wife is the best person any man could wish to wake up next to. She holds me up when I’m falling, and puts me down when I’m flying. She makes me laugh when I’m sad and moans when I am sitting idle. Tina is everything to me. She is my reality check."
Twinkle loves poking fun at her husband’s idea of a date. “Akshay's idea of a romantic date is a six-kilometre jog, followed by 500 crunches... TOGETHER! Eeeeks!”
For those who believe love goes out of the window post marriage, hear what Twinkle has to say: “It drives me nuts how he has sneakily and steadily wormed his way into becoming my best friend. I like him more now than when I married him!”
