Deepika shares praise from her ex’s parents

Deepika Padukone is truly letting bygones be bygones, we see. The lovely lass has shared a pic on her social media account thanking her ex, Ranbir Kapoor’s parents, Neetu and Rishi Kapoor for their presence and praise. The veteran actor couple had watched Padmaavat at a special preview hosted by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and were clearly impressed. Rishi Kapoor had also given the film a thumbs-up.

Now, DP who is generally not too out there when it comes to sharing personal stuff on social media was quick to share an image of the flowers and card, the Kapoors sent her. Inscribed within were the words, “Excellent work!!! So very proud of you. Love, Neetu and Rishi Kapoor.”

To this, Deepika wrote, “It was so lovely seeing both of you yesterday...Thank You for all the love & appreciation!@neetu54#RishiKapoor.”

Speaking about the Kapoors’ gesture, she later said, “Yes, it was very sweet of them. I was touched. I’ve worked with them in Love Aaj Kal and I have fond memories.”

This is really rather sporting of Deepika, considering her relationship with the Kapoor scion had ended badly with him evidently cheating on her with Katrina Kaif. Commitment-phobic to the core, Ranbir experienced serious difficulty in playing the devoted and loyal boyfriend. What’s more, his mama Neetu was supposedly no big fan of his then-girlfriend either…
Word goes that she found Deepika a tad too dominating and was not too happy that she was an actress with a thriving career of her own. Till date, she would prefer to have a non-film actress wife for her son. Back in 2013, Neetu had even come out to say, “I have never told him who I like and who I don't like. His girls are his life. He has to spend his life with her. She should love him and keep the family together… I just want the right girl for my Ranbir and feel that satisfaction that she looks after him.”

Deepika, who once looked secure in her place as a possible Kapoor daughter-in-law, has since moved on into a loving relationship with Ranveer Singh. Ranbir continues to fly solo. And we can’t help but wonder whether the senior Kapoors experience a twinge of regret about what might have been…
