The wait is over! Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt reach Sofia to start the Bulgaria leg of the shoot. Mouni Roy who will be seen in a completely different avatar as she plays the negative role, also joined the remainder of the team in Bulgaria last night.
Ayan Mukerji, who’s hoping Brahmastra will be his biggest success, begins shooting the “contemporary but magical fairy tale” for Dharma Productions in Bulgaria from February 23 with Ranbir and Alia. Why Bulgaria? Because that’s where some of the world’s finest animation, VFX and motion graphics studios are located.

“A lot of preparation needs to be done. While Ranbir is busy prepping with his trainers, Alia and Mouni will attend reading sessions. The set is being erected as well right now and the shoot will start from 22nd February onwards," said a source close to the actor.
“Ranbir is slated to return on March 24th. But the schedule might get cut short depending on the weather conditions and might get extended as well basis how much gets done in the one month since it kick starts. Some major portions will be canned during this period,” added the source.
The film that will release on August 15, 2019, will finish major part of the shooting by the end of the year. Because the film will be converted in 3D, the post-production segment is bound to consume some time.
Co-produced by Fox Star Studios and Namit Malhotra, Malhotra reveals that the aspiration is to create something home-grown that can match Hollywood standards. “We can’t be penny-pinching with the scale. Hollywood has moved from dramas and rom-coms to big scale films, which makes more money eventually. India too is getting there.” Dharma Productions has announced the film as one of its “most ambitious films”. No expense is being spared and the results are expected to be worth every penny of that Rs.150+ crore budget.
