With a clan as huge and party-happy as the Kapoors, not surprisingly celebrations are a round-the-year occurrence!
We were treated to the sight of the entire family, headed by matriarch Krishna Kapoor, come together to celebrate their annual Christmas lunch at the home of the late Shashi Kapoor. From all the famous uncles, aunts, cousins, in-laws and toddlers, all were snapped bonding and making merry in their legendary way.
A few of the clan also made it to Pataudi, to bring in little Taimur’s first birthday party on December 1. Nights of revelry on the beautiful palace grounds saw Randhir Kapoor and Babita, along with the still dishy Karan Kapoor, join Kareena and Saif for the classy celebrations.
Now party time beckons again, as the family is set for two consecutive celebrations…
February 14 will see the great Showman, Raj Kapoor’s sons, Randhir, Rishi and Rajiv attend a formal function which has been organised to confer the Raj Kapoor Award for Excellence in Cinema. Instituted by the Asian Centre for Entertainment Education (ACEE), along with various international organisations like World Bank, UNICEF, USC Annenberg Normal Lear Cenre, Hollywood Health and Society, Cinepolis Foundation and CMS, the Raj Kapoor Trophy will be unveiled in Mumbai on Wednesday.
These global awards are being launched in memory of Raj Kapoor, who placed the mainstream and popular entertainment which he created in contemporary social contexts. It has been revealed that veteran filmmaker Ramesh Sippy, who directed the sensational blockbuster Sholay and the much-loved tele-serial ‘Buniyaad’, will be conferred the first Raj Kapoor Award for Excellence in Cinema. Sippy will receive the award at the two-day ‘Elevate 2K18’ bi-annual conclave of ACEE’s programme, The Third Eye in Mumbai.
The following night will be party time as the entire family will get together at their family home, Devnar House, Chembur to bring in Randhir aka Dabboo’s 71st birthday. In keeping with the tradition, the party will see daughters Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan playing hosts along mother Babita. Besides the grand old lady, Krishna Raj Kapoor, Rishi and Neetu Kapoor along with Rajiv Kapoor and Rima Jain, and Saif Ali Khan are expected to attend. And while the gorgeous Ranbir Kapoor will be missing in action at shoots for Brahmastra in Bulgaria, we are counting on the adorable Taimur to keep our peepers happy!
