‘Ek ladki ko dekha’ to be recreated for Sonam-Anil starrer

It was last month that Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga, which brings together daddy Anil Kapoor and daughter Sonam Kapoor for the first time onscreen, teed off filming. Directed by Shelly Dhar, sister of filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film features the Kapoors playing father and daughter.

Shelly, who managed this casting coup, had revealed that both father and daughter were all nervous and excited as well about sharing screen space in a film for the first time. She had also shared that the filming would take place at a family house in Patiala, and in Chandigarh. “I am shooting entirely at real locations as I want the film to develop as organically as possible. We can’t wait to start rolling now!” she had declared.

Well, the film has begun rolling and evidently the cast and crew are having a fantastic time. “On their first day together, I gave the clap and called it a historical shot as it was the first time we had two big stars who are also father and daughter,” reveals the director. She adds, “Anil is a typical dad who asks us to take Sonam’s shots first; I find it endearing. We have been shooting at night and it gets nippy at times, so Sonam is constantly checking up on her father.”

Also very much part of the proceedings is Juhi Chawla, who plays a perky character in the film. Juhi is reuniting onscreen with Anil after 11 years since they were last seen together in Nikkhil Advani’s Salaam-e-Ishq. Naturally, work seems more like fun. “It was lovely to see two friends come together after a long time. They are in such great shape. On set, they refuse to call each other by their real names, resorting to their characters instead,” beams Dhar.

Naturally, a film titled Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga, inspired by the Anil-Manisha song from 1942: A Love Story, must include that beautiful number. Fans will be happy to know that the original song is being recreated for the film. “We want to replicate its iconic status,” says Shelly. “It’s hard to beat the original so I will be happy if we are at par with it. However, we’ll have to wait and see who sings the new version and for whom in the film!”
Now she has got us thinking!
