Box-Office Report: Padmaavat reigns supreme, PadMan performs well, Aiyaary fails to impress

Since its release, this magnum opus has not seen a bad day. Despite being banned in few states, Padmaavat continues to win hearts of the viewers worldwide. While it inches close to Rs 500 crore mark worldwide, the film in the country races to enter the 300 crore club.

Looking back at all the collections this week, the Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone – Shahid Kapoor earned a total of Rs 166.50 crore in the first, Rs 69.50 crore in the second and Rs 31.75 crore in the third week, with the total amounting to Rs 267.75 crore.

On the other hand, while Akshay Kumar’s PadMan started slow, it steadily gained momentum and started to fare well at the box office. After entering the 50 crore club in its opening week, the film raked a whopping Rs 62.87 crore in the first week. In the second week, the film earned Rs 2.10 crore on Friday. The total collection stands at Rs 64.97 crore.

Recently released, Aiyaary, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee received scathing reviews from audience and critics alike had a dull start at the box office as well. The film managed to collect Rs 3.25 crore on Friday. This makes Aiyaary as Sidharth's lowest opener ever where A Gentleman collected Rs 4.04 crore and Ittefaq collected Rs 4.05 crore. With PadMan still running on screens and Aiyaary being banned in Pakistan, it is bound to adversely affect the business, however; it still hasn't stopped the fans to visit the theatres.
