Padmaavat Special: Deepika, Ranveer, Bhansali’s celebration on sea!

Last heard, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was talking about how he didn’t set much store by parties and wasn’t even allowed to attend birthday parties as a child. Well, there’s no chance the cast and crew of his historical magnum opus are letting him miss the grand success bash that’s being planned this weekend to celebrate the film’s success!

Buzz goes that with Padmaavat surging past the Rs.275-crore mark at the box office, a success party is compulsory! And not just any old success party. The do will be held aboard an ocean liner; just perfect for the man who likes everything to be extra-special and larger than life. What’s more, it’s also Bhansali’s 56th birthday and a reason for a double celebration.

Apparently, the team chose to give the usual five-star venues a miss and instead decided upon Ark Deck Bar, a floating restaurant with an open-air bar deck, a sit-down restaurant and private dining areas. While offering stunning views as it sails into the blue, it will also keep its celebrity passengers safely away from the probing cameras.

The guest list features at least 150 names, including other B-wood top stars. The starry brigade will be ferried across to the Ark from the Sea Link jetty. The food will include European, Indian, Italian and pan-Asian cuisine. However, one person who has already made his excuses and will be missing out on the celebrations, is Padmaavat’s very own Maharawal Ratan Singh aka Shahid Kapoor.

It doesn’t come as a surprise that the actor will not attend, as it had been rumoured that Shahid wished to avoid further comparison between himself and Ranveer Singh, who won kudos for his depiction of the fierce Alauddin Khilji. However, he would have been unable to attend even had he wanted to – the Padmaavat do clashes with his birthday on February 25. It had already been revealed that he, along with wife Mira and daughter Misha would be attending a satsang in Beas, the river town near Amritsar.

…Talk about contrasts!
