The upcoming road film, Karwaan brings together the sensational Irrfan Khan and the south actor, Dulquer Salmaan. Scriptwriter Akarsh Khurana reveals that Dulquer’s character Avinash had to take a trip from Bangalore to Kochi and requests his friend Shaukat (Irrfan) to give him company. They are a study in contrasts - while Avinash is the reserved sort, Shaukat is a tad old school with a humorous take on life. Along the way, they also pick up a spirited teen, played by internet sensation Mithila Palkar. The film is about these three characters who come together.

Not surprisingly, Dulquer or DQ, as he is called, is rather smitten by Irrfan Khan, who is a lot like the character he portrays. Apparently, he is a huge Irrfan fan and absolutely reveres him. No surprises there, Irrfan has that effect on the best of them!

Of course, together the two stars created mass hysteria. Akarsh shares an incident when they were shooting in Kerala. A huge crowd of fans started descending on the sets from all directions. At one point they had to stop the shoot to let the traffic pass. However, some smart fans decided to take advantage of this break and came up to the bridge to click Dulquer and Irrfan. It got so intense that Akarsh and DoP were actually pushed back by the surging crowd. And there’s more… Apparently, Akarsh took his cell phone out to take pictures of the ensuing madness. At this point, an over-excited fan actually climbed on to his shoulders to get a better view of Irrfan and DQ! “He even began instructing me in Malayalam so he could get some clear pictures!” laughs Akarsh.

On another occasion, Irrfan and DQ were mobbed by no less than 300 screaming girls, during the time they were filming in a school in Ooty. Incidentally, while everyone presumed that it was the teen heart-throb Dulquer who had triggered the excitement, it turned out that it was Irrfan who garnered the loudest cheers! Again, we are so not surprised.
