Our hearts had skipped a beat when we first heard of Saif Ali Khan and Madhavan coming together in a period drama. Now it has skipped several more… Sonakshi Sinha has quietly been roped in and has already begun filming in Rajasthan!

Produced by Aanand L Rai and directed by Navdeep Singh of NH10 fame, the makers are keeping Sonakshi’s look and role firmly under wraps for now. She plays the surprise element in the film and they clearly don’t want to spoil it anytime soon. All we do know for now is that she is playing an interesting cameo in this Saif-Madhavan starrer.

The yet-untitled film sees these leading men come together 17 years after they were last seen on screen together, in Gautham Menon’s romantic-drama Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein. That was in 2001. Naturally, their current project is eagerly looked forward to, as both men have matured as fine actors and probably better in the looks department as well!

The film is pegged as an ambitious project, for which both stars have learnt horse riding as well as sword fighting. What’s more, the two actors will supposedly also have drastically different looks involving prosthetics, which the team is currently working on. The historical film also includes Deepak Dobriyal in an important role and Zoya Hussain of Mukkabaaz fame.

Filming apparently teed off last week in Rajasthan with Saif, along with the other actors. The film is being shot near Desuri village as of now but will move to other parts of the state as well. Post-Rajasthan, the film will return to Mumbai for a long schedule. Another one will follow in Uttar Pradesh.

The addition of the spunky Sonakshi is bound to add heaps of interest to this period film. By all accounts, she might just be the element that steals all the eyeballs and the applause. Not for nothing does she like calling herself ‘Asli Sona’, after all!
