‘She wanted to see Janhvi in her first film’: Jaya Prada talks about Sridevi

Sridevi has left the entire country unsettled with her untimely demise. It is not just her friends and family but the nation that is mourning for her. The actress, the one who started off as a young artiste on the film sets at the tender age of four, grew to become the first female superstar the nation had ever seen. By the time she was in her twenties, she already had the taste of stardom.

Much to everyone’s surprise, Sridevi decided to take a break post her marriage with Boney Kapoor. But neither her talent nor her popularity was compromised. The veteran actress and a politician, Jaya Prada who once was her contemporary and a rival - later became one of her close friends. On the day, when Sridevi has left the world behind, Jaya shares her thoughts on the ‘forever dream girl’.

She said in an interaction with a leading daily she expressed, “Sridevi ji was a great human being, a fabulous dancer, a tremendous actress and above all, a wonderful mother. In her long career, she has played so many varied and entertaining characters and will be remembered as a dream girl forever. We worked in a number of films together, including Aulad, Akhree Raasta and Tohfa, and would complement each other on the sets. She was an introvert, really shy but extremely disciplined and obeying the director’s instructions to the T. But on screen, she reigned as the queen.”

“When my son Siddharth was getting married, I had personally gone to invite her and she had come with her entire family. She was always very warm whenever we met. She really wanted to see Janhvi in her first film but everything is God’s will. I had never imagined that she would go away so soon. She would always have a smile on her face,” Jaya added.
