A family united in grief… Boney Kapoor’s children appear to form a small ring of love around him – Janhvi and Khushi in front of him, and Anshula and Arjun beside him. A rare photograph, it captures the family at the Celebration Sports Club, where Sridevi’s body, draped in the Indian tricolour, was in state.

Since the early hours of the morning, hundreds of fans from across the country had lined up in endless queues to pay their respects to the late actress, a leading light of Indian cinema. A constant stream of well-wishers from the industry also reached out, to pay their tributes to the departed actress, and console the grieving family.

Acknowledged as Indian cinema's first woman superstar in more recent times, the late actress was given a 13-gun salute at the Celebration Sports Club, which is a short distance away from her home in Green Acres Lokhandwala where her body arrived last night from Dubai.

This afternoon, the funeral cortege began its final journey to the Vile Parle crematorium. Her filmmaker husband Boney Kapoor, stepson Arjun Kapoor and other family members accompanied the hearse, which was bedecked in white flowers. Thousands of mourners lined the streets to bid the adored actress goodbye. Thousands walked along with the hearse for its 7 kilometre long journey. Many more were already there to receive it.

Sridevi returns to the stars from whence she came. Rest in Peace. You will never be forgotten.
