LEAKED: Anushka Sharma brilliantly essays the role of a village belle

A couple weeks back, the Sui Dhaaga team officially shared the first look at Varun and Anushka as Mauji and Mamta. The two didn't leave any stone unturned to look the part, and clearly, these leaked pictures from the set of Sui Dhaaga says it all.

Anushka Sharma clad in a blue and orange saree with a bindi is as real as it gets to a village belle. We bet she was hard to recognize in this attire. Anushka who attended workshops to perfect her character before filming will be essaying a self-reliant embroiderer, while Varun plays the role of a tailor.

In an interview earlier, producer Maneesh Sharma spoke about Anushka as Mamta in the film. He said, "We wanted someone who could effortlessly transform herself into a character who is intelligent, strong and expressive even in her silence. Anushka brings in the authenticity and resilient spirit as a performer and a star."

“Today, moviegoers want to discover and love characters that they connect with. They want to identify themselves with the story and see how convincingly and truthfully actors translate it," he added.

The film, based on a social initiative and inspired by the Make in India initiative, went on the floors in January 2018. The film celebrates the spirit of self-reliance whilst talking about finding love and respect. A heartwarming story, to say the least, the film is bound to touch the hearts of many.

The makers had earlier released a video on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, which showed the lead pair saluting Gandhiji’s simplicity and Swadeshi Movement, revealing why Indian manufactured goods are the best which is the centre of the film.

The film is expected to hit the screens on 28 September 2018, before Gandhi Jayanti.
