Alright, not Shah Rukh but Abhay to romance Katrina!

Aanand L Rai’s film is turning out to be one surprise fest – and its release is still many months away in December.

While Shah Rukh will essay the role of a dwarf, Anushka will play a struggling scientist who is apparently mentally differently abled, and Katrina will essay an actress. Recently, it was revealed besides Shah Rukh Khan, who has a special role in the film with a disability, the characters played by Anushka and Katrina face their own challenges as well.

Katrina, for instance, besides playing a diva in the film, is also an alcoholic. Her struggle with alcoholism supposedly affects her life in various ways.

And much as the makers are trying to curtail more information about the film from spreading, here’s a new titbit that should surprise you… It won’t be Shah Rukh but Abhay Deol who will be paired together with Kat in this film.

It is for the first time that Kat and Abhay have been cast opposite each other, though they have appeared in Zoya Akhtar's 2011 film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

Zero will see them romance each other for the first time and we can’t wait to check out their chemistry.

For those who have been missing this Deol in action, he was last seen in Anand L Rai’s Happy Bhaag Jayegi. There will be a lot more of him in the offing though, as the actor has no less than seven films coming up. Five of these projects are already in post-production, while he has signed on two more films. He recently completed shooting for The Field, a mafia thriller based in Delhi, which also features Brendan Fraser of The Mummy and George of the Jungle, fame.

While Zero is bound to get Abhay the eyeballs he has been missing out on, Katrina is no less excited about being part of the project. She had recently claimed that she trusts Shah Rukh blindly as far as the film is concerned as he is personally looking into the technical details in terms of VFX, CGI and graphics and has hired the best people in the field for the same. She is also thrilled with the response the film’s teaser has received and is sure it will be a one of a kind film that all will be proud of. We’ve got our fingers crossed too!
