Right now, Ranveer Singh is in the thick of shooting for Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy, his musical drama on real-life street rappers. Come April, he will shed the skin of his rapper character to prep to slip into the khaki uniform of his next, in Simmba.
Apparently, the actor met with Simmba director Rohit Shetty recently at his office for a marathon narration. The four-hour session saw the duo discuss the film in more detail, and shoot off ideas. Excitement is running high for both Rohit and Ranveer as they collaborate for the first time.

The duo is making sure they will get it absolutely right when filming for this cop entertainer begins. To ensure Ranveer is ready for the hard-core, stylised action sequences that are the hallmark of a Rohit Shetty film, the actor will get into training for the action sequences.
Word has it that he will train for a couple of weeks with Shetty’s team before the first schedule of the film begins.
Simmba is pegged to be a riotous ride. As Rohit had earlier declared, it is a hard-core commercial action film that neither Ranveer nor he has done before. “We are working on the final draft at the moment and it goes on the floors by mid-next year. We have bought the rights of the South film Temper from which our film is inspired,” he had shared.
It was recently also revealed that Rohit Shetty had convinced his long-term friend, Ajay Devgn to play a special part in the film. The Ajay-Rohit bond goes back a long way. Out of the 13 films that Rohit has directed, Ajay has featured in 10. He approached Ajay to play a special character and, not surprisingly, Ajay didn’t need any convincing – he was on immediately. In fact, it was supposedly Ajay himself who had suggested Ranveer’s name to Rohit for Simmba.
The scene featuring Ajay and Ranveer will supposedly bring their famous cop characters – Singham and Simmba – together. Bring it on, we say!
