And it’s a hit: Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety crosses Rs.100 crore!

Proving yet again that content is king, director Luv Ranjan’s Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety has been enjoying a fabulous run at the box office despite the lack of big names.

Starring Nushrat Bharucha, Kartik Aaryan and Sunnuy Singh, the film has been going super-strong at the box office. It has garnered Rs.100.33 crore as of now and is still packing in the cinema halls.

Pegged as a war between bromance and romance, the film is a twist on the belief that a wedding is a marriage between two families – here, it is the marriage between two friend circles! The film is a hilarious take on what follows when your best friend and your girlfriend can't see eye to eye. While Sonu and Titu are childhood friends, Titu has always been a naïve lover, who falls in love easily while Sonu has always had to step in to save him. Sweety is the perfect bride and Titu is head over heels in love with her. However, Sonu is determined to protect Titu at any cost. Naturally, it’s war as Sweety tries to impress Titu and the family, but Sonu is out to sabotage their perfect romance!

An elated Luv Ranjan had recently pointed out, “We always knew we were making a film that would appeal to the youth. Critics called the film anti-women, misogynistic. But that didn't bother me. I was looking beyond the criticism.”

He added, “For me, my actors Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha and Sunny Singh are stars. And beyond them, it's the script that is the superstar.”

In an interview, Kartik Aryan commented on the superb box office performance of the film, saying, “I think this film is the turning point of my career. What is happening right now is surreal. Bahut alag feeling hai. I had expected it to do well but the kind of success that it’s turning out to be is outstanding.”
