We will forever be thankful to Sonam Kapoor for introducing Fawad Khan to us with Khoobsurat in 2014. Now, the actress is all set to star with another heartthrob, this time from the Malayalam industry, Dulquer Salmaan. The two will be seen in Fox Star Studios and Adlabs Films latest collaboration Zoya Factor, which will release on April 5, 2019.
Dulquer is the son of veteran South sensation, Mammooty.
The film is an adaptation of Anuja Chauhan's popular novel The Zoya Factor. Sonam will be essaying the character of the title role of Zoya Singh Solanki, an advertising executive, who was born at the exact moment when the 1983 World Cup was clinched by India. The younger players in the Indian cricket team decide that having breakfast with her guarantees their victory, and crown her their lucky charm. Zoya finds herself chased by international cricket boards and wooed by advertisers.
However, one person stands out in stark difference – the captain himself, Nikhil, who does not believe in luck at all! This will be the role that Dulquer will essay… and it goes without saying that the sparks will fly! Dulquer, known for his successful films like O Kaadhal Kanmani, Bangalore Days and Kammatipaadam will be seen in the role of Nikhil.

This rom-com will be helmed by Tere Bin Laden fame Abhishek Sharma. In the director's words, “Cricket woven into a rom-com and touching on superstition and luck, it’s an amazing book for a screen adaptation. The book has many layers, characters, and tracks. Sonam is our Zoya Singh Solanki, an advertising agency executive. She was the first person that came to my mind as she’s as bubbly as Zoya and after seeing Neerja and Dulquer will play Nikhil Khoda, the captain of the Indian Cricket Team in the film.”
Reportedly, Fawad Khan was the first choice for the role of Nikhil. But due to the ban on Pakistani artists in 2016, followed by Fawad's reservations to do intimate scenes onscreen, he chose to step out of the film.
But we are not complaining...Time to see Dulquer weave his magic on his female fans.
