Aamir would love to make a sequel to this hit film…

It’s his birthday, he’s back in his home city, and life couldn’t get better for Aamir Khan! The actor looked rested and content as he had his first live interaction with fans on Instagram.
Touching his moustache intermittently, adjusting the hairband that holds his fairly long tresses away from his face, and sporting the trademark nose accessory that he wears in Thugs of Hindostan, he was in no rush to hurry things.

A fan asks him to recite a dialogue from Dangal and he responds, “Anya, kal subah 5 baje taiyyar rehna!” Another asks whom he is following on Insta – he replies, “I also don’t know yet whom I will follow on Instagram. Give me some suggestions!”

Promising to stay in touch with fans as much as possible, he starts off talking about the experience of shooting in Jodhpur. “Nowadays I’m shooting in Jodhpur and it’s a wonderful place. The people are really nice. It’s very enjoyable shooting there. It’s great working with Amitji. The food is very tasty!” Clearly no complaints there!

A fan asks when he will visit Kolkata and he responds, “There is no plan yet.” He adds, “But whenever I have visited Kolkata, I’ve liked it very much. I remember when my first film had released I had visited Kolkata and since then I have shared a special relationship with the place.”

Quizzed about the first look of Thugs of Hindostan, he smiles, “Basically, the way I’m looking right now is half of the look I sport in the film. I’m trying my best to hide the Thugs look from you! As we come closer to the release of the film, we will reveal our looks, and you will see the trailers and first look. We hope to release our film during Diwali on November 7. Our last schedule is on now. The climax is being shot. And we are trying to complete the film by April 10.”

He adds, “November 7 is also Kiranji’s birthday. It’s a good day for us.”

Talking about the possibility of Thugs… clashing with 2.0, he says he doesn’t know exactly when the film is releasing but it’s a very big film, directed by Shankar and he himself would want to see it. “I hope it won’t clash with our film or there will be a big problem! Rajinikanth is a very big star and I respect him a lot.”

Meanwhile, his Thugs… co-star Fatima Sana Shaikh also joins in the chat briefly. “Hi Fati, how’s the shooting going?” he greet her. He informs, “Fati and Bachchan sa’ab are shooting today.”

Asked about which film he felt most nervous doing, he ponders a while before replying, “Actually, every role that I have played has been challenging. I have never found any role easy. Maybe the film I’m doing right now, Thugs of Hindostan, has been one of my most challenging roles. One of my toughest roles. I hope you like it!”

Likewise he is unable to zero down on his favourite character played so far. “I’ve never been able to find the answer to the question about which my favourite role is. There have been many roles that I have a liked a lot, which have been very close to my heart… Ranchod from 3 Idiots, Nikumb sir from Taare Zameen Par, Bhuvan from Lagaan, Akash from Dil Chahta Hai, ACP Rathore from Sarfarosh, PK, Mahavir Phogat from Dangal, Sanjay Singhania from Ghajini, DJ from Rang De Basanti. So it’s very difficult for me to choose. So, why don’t you tell me which one you liked most!” he passes the question back to the fan asking!

He does reveal though that he would love to revisit Sarfarosh. “It was one of my favourite films. It’s a very memorable film and I like it very much. If a sequel is made, I would be most happy because I would love to bring ACP Rathore back to the screen. The way the film ended, did suggest that there would be a part II and another case would come to him again. I’ve told John, the director of Sarfarosh, to make a sequel to the film but he hasn’t brought the story to me yet. But I’m also hopeful of making Sarfarosh part II sometime.”

Naturally, talk veers to his experience of working with Amitabh Bachchan in Thugs… “Amitji is a superlative actor,” he maintains. “He is also a very special human being. Very principled, very affectionate, and he’s very generous and helpful with his co-actors. I’m learning a lot while working with him. His focus, dedication, hard work, his understanding of the shot…I’m learning a lot from him.”

Post Thugs…, he reveals, he has no plans. “I have no film, no plan. At this point, I’m concentrating only on Thugs... Until this film is completed and released, I will not sign any new film or even think about it. My entire concentration is only on this film.”

Single-minded concentration – it’s what separates this man from the rest. Happy birthday, Genius!
