Hiroo Johar’s 75th B'day Inside Details: Kareena, Kajol, Rani join KJo in celebrations

Trust doting son Karan Johar to pull off the most memorable celebrations for his mum, Hiroo Johar’s 75^th- and we mean that in the plural! Not every lucky lady has two bashes hosted in her honour – a daylong brunch for her gal pals, followed by a glitzier celebration in the evening attended by some of B-town’s beautiful peeps, who are her son’s closest friends!

Karan’s closest buddies – his “Friends like family,” as he called them - all made sure they were there to toast his mother Hiroo. From Kareena Kapoor Khan, to Rani Mukerji looking fetching in a lace number, to Kajol flashing her usual high-wattage smile, to Sidharth Malhotra who remains close to his Student of the Year mentor, they were all there. Also in party mode, were Karan’s bestie, designer Manish Malhotra, Tanisha Mukerji, and Shweta Bachchan Nanda, among other famous faces.

“The party kicked off at around 1 pm. On the menu were Hiroo’s favorite Chinese and Indian dishes. She cut a three-tier cake which was preceded by the screening of an audio-visual, chronicling moments from Karan’s childhood days to Hiroo Johar's latest pictures with her grandchildren, Yash and Roohi. The twins joined in for the cake cutting,” informed a guest. The guest said that singer Zarir Warden of One Empire band performed Hiroo’s favourite Elvis Presley hits while Sonu Nigam kept the revellers entertained for an hour, cajoling Waheeda, Honey Irani, Shabana and Javed to join him on stage," shared a guest.

The highlight had to have been the live musical performance by Sonu Nigam. Against a backdrop that read ‘Aged to Perfection’, Sonu belted out Hiroo Aunty – as she is fondly called by all - ’s fave songs, including ‘Har ghadi badal rahi hai roop zindagi…’, ‘Lag ja gale…’ and ‘Ajeeb dastan hai yeh…’ all through the celebration. Shabana Azmi spontaneously joined Sonu during "Ajeeb.." and it was hardly a performance. “Hiroo loves Hindi film songs and Sonu was marvelous. We were clapping, cheering and doing Shammi Kapoor movements or so we thought!," confessed the veteran actress.

Karan also shared a heart-warming family picture of himself, mother Hiroo and twins Yash and Roohi. His guests also did their bit of posting. While Kajol shared a beautiful picture of the Johar family from the evening, Sidharth also posted a video where Hiroo can be seen cutting a rose-bedecked cake with her grandchildren.
