Mumbai-based lawyer, Rizwan Siddiqui has been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Thane police in connection with illegal procurement of Call Details Records (CDRs). He has been remanded in police custody till March 23 by a court here. Siddiqui was arrested after he allegedly did not turn up before the Thane police despite a summons. He has represented many celebrities, including Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Nawazuddin and his wife have also been summoned for the recording of their statement in the case, which came to light in January with the arrest of some private detectives. It is alleged that a racket of private detectives was selling illegally obtained CDRs to lawyers and others. It had been reported that some of the accused had told police that Nawazuddin’s lawyer had obtained CDRs of Nawazuddin’s wife from private detectives.

Now the plot thickens… Sources reveal that an examination of Rizwan’s laptop has uncovered evidence that Rizwan used the services of these detectives to uncover information about a certain lead actor as well. The detectives allegedly also hacked into the actor’s email account. Police are further investigating the matter.

According to sources, Rizwan has been the advocate of a top heroine. He was overseeing the matter of her conflicted relationship with the said actor. In regard with this, Rizwan had helped access email and photographs of the actor. Police suspect that Rizwan acquired this evidence through unethical means.

Rizwan had apparently instructed the detectives to collect all possible information about the lead actor. What’s more, Rizwan’s laptop has also revealed certain images of the actor and information related to his mobile phone.

If more proof as to the same emerges, the police will call in the actress for questioning.

And then there will be no keeping the matter a secret any longer…
