All eyes have been trained on just which film our fave export to the West would deign to sign on home-ground. The girl herself has been spoilt for choice. Her Instagram story showed a picture of her table with no less than six scripts scattered on it. Her caption read, “Which one will it be? Homework.”
Turns out, the homework has been completed and the choice made… And Salman Khan will apparently be the lucky guy, after all!
Talk is flowing fast and furious that from among the many offers that have come her way, Priyanka Chopra could well choose Salman’s brother in law Atul Agnihotri’s production, Bharat.
The film would see PC reunite with Salman after a considerable gap of 10 years. It has been a long time since the ‘Quantico’ star was seen on the Hindi film screen itself – her last release was Jai Gangaajal in 2016, which saw her playing a tough cop.
There had been talk of Priyanka being cast opposite Aamir Khan for the biopic Salute. However, once Aamir pulled out and was replaced by Shah Rukh, the same pairing did not sustain. She had stated, “Aamir is not in the film now. I have finalised two-three scripts. Now, I am left to make announcements. Yes, Rakesh Sharma biopic was one of them. I was approached for that film when Aamir was doing it. We were supposed to do in 2019. Now, I don’t know.”
If she does come on board for Bharat, it will see her pair up with Salman for the fourth time. They have been cast opposite each other in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love (2007) and God Tussi Great Ho (2008).
Helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar, who has also directed Salman in Sultan (2016) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), team Bharat is gung-ho about the pairing. Priyanka has also worked with Ali in Gunday (2014) and reportedly shares a good rapport with him. Buzz has it that Ali had even met PC in New York recently, and shared details about the upcoming Salman-starrer.
With PC’s possible entry, Bharat has suddenly received some international polish!
