A sentimental Deepika requested Bhansali for the jauhar outfit

Padmaavat has been a highly emotional experience for Deepika Padukone in multiple ways. The actress has been tremendously shaken and stirred, playing the brave and beautiful Rani Padmini in this Sanjay Leela Bhansali historical.

Deepika had earlier shared that the jauhar scene was the most difficult and challenging to perform. Jauhar or suicide by immolation had been apparently performed by Rani Padmini in 1301 when Alauddin Khilji and his army invaded the fort of Chittor. Speaking about it, Deepika had said, “It's so powerful. You do not feel like she is doing anything wrong. You want her to embrace the flames because she is going to be united with the man she loves.”
She had also admitted, “For me, it was the most difficult scene to perform…It was such a difficult thing to execute.”

In fact, when she, Bhansali and Ranveer watched the scene during the cast and crew screening, they all ended up sobbing. “We started bawling. Everyone stood up and clapped. We are part of this film, we know the story, we have been through the journey, yet it moved us. It is one of the best climax scenes that I've ever seen,” Deepika had shared.

Now it emerges that the actress has made a special request: she has asked Bhansali to give her the outfit that she had worn for the climax scene. The film, the character and the jauhar sequence, in particular, have immense sentimental value for her. The garments that she wore as Queen Padmini, who chose to walk into the flames and choose death over dishonour, hold a special significance for her. It’s not surprising that she wants to treasure this memory in a tangible way, for life.

The stunner herself shares, “Padmaavat, in its entirety, has been a journey that will stay with me forever. The climax sequence, especially, has been the most intense, challenging and memorable scene I have ever done. And to commemorate those moments, I’ve requested Sanjay sir if I could keep the outfit that I wore.”
