Is a web series on controversial godman Osho aka Bhagwan Rajneesh going to be Aamir Khan’s big announcement tomorrow? That’s what Bollywood is guessing. Aamir cleverly whipped up a huge amount of interest on social media in this announcement. The actor, who said on Facebook yesterday that he has something very special and important to share with people, teased his legion of fans by asking them to wait till 4.30 pm on Tuesday, March 27. That is when he will unveil the suspense.

However, bets are being taken on what this announcement could be. Belief is that it will be one of three projects that the actor is recently being linked with. Most likely it will be the mega project Mahabharata which is proposed to be a trilogy reportedly financed by Mukesh Ambani at Rs. 1,000 crores. There has been nothing official about this except the buzz and Aamir’s veiled statements about wanting to get into it.
Another possibility is Aamir coming on board T Series’ Mogul that Akshay Kumar was initially doing. Mogul is based on the life of the production house’s founder, the late Gulshan Kumar. The film was to go on the floor in the first quarter of 2018 but now it’s not happening. There have been rumours that Aamir is keen on playing the Bollywood mogul who started off selling records and cheap audio cassettes and went on to start a music label and produce films.
Sources are of the opinion that the actor will announce the Osho project if only there is the likelihood of it being a Netflix series with him playing the role of the godman. Moreover, with Dharma Productions denying a film on Osho with Ranveer Singh playing the cult figure spiritual guru, the field has opened up for somebody else to cash in on this subject.
Curiosity in Osho revived after a recent Netflix docu-series Wild Wild Country on the dramatic events, controversies, and deportation by the US from a ranch in Oregon to his commune in Pune raked up interest in the controversial but popular godman and got praise within a week of its release. Twenty-eight years after his death, the Osho Ashram in Pune continues to attract followers from the world over.
