The official movie trailer of horror comedy Nanu Ki Jaanu has us chuckling alright. For starters, the premise is original - a ghost falling in love with a crook and rearranging his life! Directed by Faraz Haider and written by Manu Rishi Chadha, the film stars Abhay Deol and Patralekhaa in the lead roles. Touted to be an afterlife love story, it sees the talented Abhay and Patralekhaa teaming up for the first time.
Incidentally, Faraz and Abhay had previously collaborated and hit it off during Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!. Faraz had then been the assistant to director Dibakar Banerjee.
After Happy Bhag Jayegi Abhay Deol, had been missing in action. He had spent time in the US supposedly developing a new script. Now he returns with the black comedy Nanu Ki Jaanu, in which he plays a grey character - an agent of the land mafia, of all things! The actor reportedly plays an agent for the Delhi land mafia and people in the construction business. Manu Rishi Chadha, who has also written the film, plays his friend and accomplice.

The film details the life-altering situations in the protagonist's life, including the arrival of a ghost. The crazy circumstances are further enlivened by a number of peppy songs.
Nanu Ki Jaanu has been shot in real locations in Delhi and Noida. Watching the fun trailer, the film’s release on April 20 is definitely being anticipated. Who can resist a good comedy, after all?!
Abhay’s performance is also bound to raise eyebrows, given the character he essays with aplomb. It will be a change from the roles he has been doing in the recent past. As director Haider says, “Abhay's character and his gang deal with the land mafia in Delhi and they come up with an interesting way to go about their business. His bad boy avatar is quite a change from the roles the audience has seen him portray in recent past.”
We could use a good laugh; bring it on, Deol & gang!
