Karan Johar’s and Rohit Shetty’s debut collaboration- Simmba - has been making the buzz since its day one. While Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan bagged the lead roles, makers were waiting to cast an antagonist for the project. After much ado, Sonu Sood has bagged the role of a baddie in the film!
Interestingly, Abhishek Bachchan was the first one to have been approached by the Simmba team to play the role. Though, it is said that he is keen on coming back on the screen in a positive lead role, and so, he turned down the offer. Junior B was last seen playing the role of Bunty in the hit film of 2016, Housefull 3.

After Abhishek, the makers moved to R. Madhavan to play to the bad man in the film. While the actor was almost finalized for the role, a sudden shoulder injury caused him to take a step back from the mega-movie. Finally, the makers announced Sonu as the villain of the action-drama film.
Sonu has already proved himself to be a kickass villain with his portrayal of Chedi Singh in Dabangg. It seems like the makers of Simmba are finally relieved with Sonu on board. In an interview, the ecstatic actor revealed, “I can't reveal much about the character, but all I can say is that it is one of the most challenging roles that I will be playing.” Sonu further added, “I think it's exciting to have a role with multiple layers... and something which challenges you to work on it always gives a high to an actor. This is something which will need me to work a lot and study a few things.”
"Once the film comes out, people will come to know about it. And yes, it will put me to do some kind of homework,” Sonu said.
It has been learned that the actor has already started training and working on his looks for the film. This is the first time he will be collaborating with Rohit who is known for his grand action-dramas. The film is set to release on December 28, 2018. This film will also mark Sara’s debut. Kedarnath which was initially said to launch her has been pushed to January 2019.
