Coming up: A hat-trick from Anushka Sharma

Her work schedules are chock-a-block and she tries to snatch time whenever she can with husband Virat Kohli, but Anushka Sharma, a producer, hasn’t lost sight of her professional goals.

Right now she is apparently all set to launch three new films from her production house, Clean Slate Films. Anushka and her brother Karnesh Sharma have already closed on three scripts, each from a different genre. The three new films, which will be announced in quick succession, will feature other actresses in the lead roles. Anushka herself has her acting plate rather full with Sui Dhaaga with Varun Dhawan and Zero with Shah Rukh Khan.

Last year, she had also made it amply clear that not all the films that came from her production house would feature her. “I can't possibly be doing all films and we plan on making more films, say two a year,” she had clarified, adding, “If I fit the part, then why not? But at the same time, we are also pitching films to other actors where I don't fit in. I want to clarify this fact - it's not that I've turned producer so that I can act in all my films.”

She had explained that if she was making films for herself, then she would probably call her production house something other than its current name. “It's called 'Clean Slate Films' because it's an ideology. 'Clean Slate' means to start anew without any prejudices or any so-called baggage of a hit. Right now, we are early players; we are like a startup. So maybe it's easier to make films starring me at the moment. But when people will gain more confidence in us as a company, I am sure we will work with more and more actors.”

With three films already out – NH10, Phillauri and Pari – she has already learnt the ropes sufficiently to back talented and driven actors, directors, and technicians. We can’t wait to see what she has in store.
