Like a proud daddy, Madhavan announced the news on Instagram on Monday. "Proud moment for Sarita (his wife) and I, as Vedaant wins his first medal for India in an international swim meet in Thailand today. Thank you for all your blessings," he posted along with a photograph of his son holding the medal and certificate with the backdrop of a stadium.

The Southern star is known for his roles in films like Rehnaa Hai Tere Dil Mein, 3 Idiots and Saala Khadoos. The actor recently ventured into the digital domain with his first web series Breathe. He was last seen in the Tamil film Vikram Vedha.
Maddy, as he is fondly addressed, was supposed to work in Rohit Shetty’s action drama Simmba, but had to step down owing to a shoulder injury for which he has undergone a surgery and has been advised rest. "Hey folks...So I am a huge crazy fan of Rohit Shetty and his films. As is my son. It breaks both our hearts that I'm not able to be a part of this film because of my injury. I'm well on my way to recovery but this is a huge opportunity and excitement lost," Madhavan had tweeted.
"The injury kind of ruined everything," the actor said in an earlier interview after he had to opt out of the Saif Ali Khan starrer directed by Navdeep Singh. The film had action sequences galore, which required both actors to pull off horse-riding, sword-fighting and other rough-n-ready scenes. Even though Madhavan had started taking lessons in horse-riding at Mumbai’s Amateur Riders Club, all his plans have been nipped in the bud. He would simply be unable to shoot, given his current state of recuperation.
