And finally, Kedarnath finds its savior! After months of stalemate owing to a clash between Kedarnath producers KriArj and its director, Abhishek Kapoor, the crisis has ended. Ronnie Screwvala has stepped in to salvage the film. The producer has evidently bought the Sushant Singh Rajput-Sara Ali Khan starrer over and shooting will now proceed with Abhishek at the helm.
Apparently, when Ronnie, an astute filmmaker, saw the footage of Kedarnath, he was so impressed he decided it couldn’t be allowed to fall into ruins. He decided to open negotiations with the producers and has apparently compensated the film’s former producers, to acquire the film himself. While T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar and KriArj’s Prernaa Arora have been paid around Rs.14 crore, Balaji’s Ekta Kapoor was paid approximately Rs.8 crore for their investment. All parties are content with the arrangement and with Ronnie now holding the reins of the film, shooting will resume by the end of the month in Mumbai.

Sounding very positive about the developments, Ronnie confirmed, “Kedarnath is a great love story set against the backdrop of the powerful true-life event that affected us all during the floods in 2013. It completely matches my vision of great stories that need to be told and I can’t wait to bring this story to the audiences early next year.”
This is indeed great news for the beleaguered film which has been stuck after completing its first schedule in Uttarakhand. A jubilant Abhishek voiced, “I feel invigorated that he has stepped in and reinforced his faith in me. Just being in the same room with Ronnie is a privilege, making a movie with him is an honor.”
Kedarnath has faced umpteen hurdles in its very first schedule itself. First, its budget had reportedly swelled considerably. Later, senior members of the technical crew had quit over creative differences. There were also clashes between leading man Sushant and director Abhishek. Will it be a happy ending for Kedarnath finally? We have our fingers crossed.
